The webinar discusses innovative approaches for beginning teachers to complete their credential and become prepared to address Transitional K-Grade 12 priorities. The presenters describe Alternative Induction Pathways (AIP) that serve teachers affected by layoffs and Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) programs, as well as the STEM and Linked Learning resources districts have created for them. Presenters highlight the connections between pre-service teacher preparation and induction as a developmental continuum. The webinars also present resources for preparing novice teachers for the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Presenters include Lori Grace, Induction/BTSA Program Director, Long Beach Unified School District; and Teresa Cummings, Chief Accountability Officer, Interim, and Cancy McArn, Director, Human Resources, both of Sacramento City Unified School District.
Julie Kidd, Program Officer, S. D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation, will introduce the webinar. Marquita Grenot-Scheyer and Vanessa Sheared, Deans in the Colleges of Education at California State University Long Beach and Sacramento, respectively, will be the discussants.
