It was by listening to the heart and not the head that former Clare County hurler, Tony Griffin embarked on a 7000km cycling trip across Canada, a journey which was to transform his life path. With the same audacity and belief that the right people and resources would show up, Tony also established the Soar Foundation, an organisation which gives young people the permission to dream big. ‘Ships were meant to go to sea’, he states, quoting a letter from his mother, ‘they weren’t meant to stay in that port. Sail your ship to that open sea’. Here Tony shares glimpses into his own journey to the open sea, ‘because that is where it is meant to be’.
