In mid-September, I received a phone call from my Aunt, telling me that my Uncle had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a incurable bone cancer.
Understanding that the time he has left is unknown, I knew that this was the time that I needed to fly over.
Still contemplating what I wanted my Omega for my Senior year of college to be, I took this news and knew that I wanted to create a documentary of my Uncle and his journey throughout life and thoughts of cancer.
We decided to visit over my college Christmas break, my fiance and I took this 26-hour flight to the beautiful country of New Zealand.
The title "Chasing the Sunset," came to surface on the departing flights from Charlotte, LA, Tahiti to Auckland/Wellington. Sitting in our seats, and looking out the window, it felt as though we were "chasing the sunset." Going through this process with my Uncle Bob, his life is full of happiness, love, and dreams; chasing the sunset represents all of that and more.
It means never giving up hope.
