On February 27th March 2013, 3 generations of our family travelled to Tanzania.
Our original journey was planned as a short visit for Tory Toogood to compete in her Africa leg of her 7 continent marathon challenge. But after minimal discussion it was decided that it would be a great excuse for us (wifey, myself and Gran) to take the 3 kids for a once in a lifetime vacation to one of the world's most dreamt about places.
A place in all our minds since we were kids ourselves, a place that invokes memories of fascinating creatures, dark jungles, deserts, danger, intrigue and mystery.
Our trip started in Moshi for the Kilimanjaro Marathon, then onto Moshi, Lake Manyara, Rhotia Valley, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Eyasi, The Serengeti, Fly to Stone Town (Zanzibar), Pongwe Beach and fly back to Dar es Salaam where our trip ended.
Carrying 15kgs of Canon SLR gear plus a GoPro Hero 2 and all associated brackets, straps and clips. Combined with several hard drives, a laptop, iPad and a tripod - our kids and my own carry-on luggage was certainly maxed out. The following film is but a short excerpt of what was an amazing experience with my gorgeous wife, gran and the kiddies.
