Betty spoke about her life in the Royal Air Force in England between 1940 to 1945. She was 20 when she enlisted. During her time, she met Battle of Britain airmen. Her RAF base at Brize Norton was used for parachute and glider operations for D-day, secrets that she couldn’t even tell her mother. She also played piano for the troops to help keep up morale. She made many friends and lost just as many.
Her memories and stories will now live on forever. I can share this with our other family members and one day teach my children.
She was very grateful that her stories will be shared and I was grateful to her for sharing her past and to hear stories that I’ve not heard before.
