Breakdown of Shots Featured on the Compositing Reel 2013
01) Secrets (Teaser - 2011)
Computer generated scene. Added blue screen pilot.
02) Nike "Fast is Faster" (Commercial - 2012)
Computer generated jet engine added to plate. Exhaust simulated in the Nuke.
03) The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)
Added rain and splashes, falling rocks, set extensions to most close up and medium shots in the Misty Mountain sequence. Wide shots were generally all CG. CG goblins and set extensions were added in the Cavern sequence.
04) Miller Brewing "Enter Tonight" (Commercial - 2012)
Removed cars from street, added building lights coming on, added glowy element.
05) California Powerball "Snowfall" (Commercial - 2013)
Added falling balls to match practical balls. Some shots were entirely matte painting backgrounds.
06) The Burn Room (Trailer - 2013)
added cg floating obelisk. Created lightning, depth queuing, cloud layers in nuke.
07) TRON: Legacy (2010)
Composited stereo plates correcting disparity and convergence issues. Integrated CG renders into bluescreen plates. Relighting and glows of clouds, smoke, and particles were done through treatments in Nuke.
08) X-Men: First Class (2011)
Composited CG wall/door and blue reactor environment into greenscreen shot. Color and shadows were added to the wall and door to help integrate and match the wall. Composited greenscreen actors and set elements into CG walls, mirrors, flying debris. Reflections were rendered and color corrected to match greenscreen plates. Color corrections were made using fake depth mattes inside the infinity mirror reflections.
09) Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Composited greenscreen and CG elements together. Practical elements were added to windows and atmospherics to integrate the two together. Miniatures were used for the bike shots
10) Dreamcatcher (2003)
Added layers of snow with particles simulated in Maya. Distortion and color correction for the final shot showing a remote viewing.
11 ) Red Cliff II (2009)
Composited additional arrows into background. The arrows were cards simulated using a custom gizmo in Nuke. Added atmosphere and fog to foreground. Composited greenscreen ships into CG water.
