In a few days time (on April 30, 2013) Her Majesty Queen Beatrix will abdicate from the Dutch throne and make way for crown prince Willem-Alexander. We (the Superstringtrio) believe that she has chosen this moment because earlier this spring Mark van Tongeren finished his PhD 'Thresholds of Audibility. About he polyphony of the body.' The cover of the thesis holds a CD, and the first track is the 'Wilhelmus'. Several performances that were an integral part of the defense of the PhD, in March 2013, also began with the Dutch anthem. Mark was already asked to sing for Her Majesty in 1999 at the opening of the exhibition 'The Dancing Demons of Mongolia' in Amsterdam, but even tough she totally loved it, at that time he did not yet figure out how to sing the anthem with overtones. So here it is, the national anthem of the Kingdom of The Netherlands. With gratitude to Queen Beatrix!
This is the first installment of several fragments from Superstringtrio's performance Incognito Ergo Sum.
