A thriller inspired performance about love and manipulation.
What do you want a meaning for? Life is a desire, not a meaning.
- Charlie Chaplin, 'Limelight'
FOR THEY KNOW NOT is an abstract love story somewhere between a thriller and a poem staged in a constructed film set, where we will listen to what happens when the lights go out.
The audience is let in through a doorway with blinds and crosses the set- a physiotherapy room.
The performance is divided in different scenes where we follow Eitienne Motion, a neuroscientist and his relationship towards his own body and the bodies of his patient Simon, his students and his lover Slalem.
FOR THEY KNOW NOT unfolds into a tale about the relationship between body and consciousness - a reflection of how the brain and the body are linked and how our consciousness and the physical realm operate in a state of constant feedback.
Through workshop of the performance FOR THEY KNOW NOT, Wardill made a film produced by Lilith Performance Studio and shown at The National Gallery in Denmark on May 11th –September 16th, 2012, in the x-room.
This documentation is taken from the film written and directed by Emily Wardill, produced by LEmily Wardill and comissioned by The National Gallery in Denmark.
