A promotional video for marketing the UK tour of Truth and Transparency (quality is due to a secondary film file, original unavailable) Truth and Transparency was choreographed by Adesola Akinleye inspired by and as a response to Ralph Ellison’s novel “Invisible Man”. Initial development of the work was done at Exploratorium 06, Dance North West. During the original Research and Development of the work the piece was call Climbing with Bare Feet this title reflected on the idea that disadvantage can be painful but also develop incredible survival skills. Exploring Ralph Ellisons use of ‘light’ as a metaphor, Adesola researched and drew inspiration from the work of Olafur Eliasson and Ingo Maurer. Funding for creation of the work was received from Arts Council England and ADAD. Creation of the work took place in New York and London. The work also won the Bonnie Bird New Choreography Award 2006.
