Daniel worked hard all summer 2012 to design this game and do the graphics and animation. With a bit of programming help, some design assistance from cousins Dominic and Cameron, and some finishing touches this year, the game is playable, and lots of fun.
We used a step by step game design technique to guide us, but the game design is Daniel's own work, and it is very impressive. He also built the levels. Check out level 4 which is really very sophisticated: he's designed a level where you have to go and come back along different routes. The mechanic with the flies is also really great, you have to choose which enemies to pacify, allowing risky strategies for more points, or a safer route with just the injured victim.
Inspirations came from Super Mario Brothers (Dan's all time favourite), Spelunky (which he loved when we first started this game), and a sticker book on different kinds of hero (in which he learned about Cave Rescue Teams).
Dan is keen to create another game this summer.
