Wiseman's 1968 film, High School, follows teachers and students through a typical day at a Philadelphia high school. This is a form of observational cinema, moreover, a type called 'direct cinema' in which the filmmaker assumes the role of a "fly on the wall." Nevertheless, the presence of the camera is felt - thus changing the reality of the situations filmed.
