After raising hell trying to find her way to the Erie Basin Marina for a Buffalo Rocks the Harbor concert, one filmmaker, Christine LaPorte, made a documentary on accessing the waterfront and why we cannot get there. Join us as we navigate the city streets, dodging cars and crossing treacherous highways to discover what lies beyond all that concrete.
Buffalo's Waterfront was the topic of the BUFFALO YOUTH MEDIA INSTITUTE in 2007. A collaboration between Squeaky Wheel and Preservation Buffalo Niagara, the BUFFALO YOUTH MEDIA INSTITUTE is a youth media and community history initiative which gives up to 20 young people (age 13-18/8th-12th grade) from Buffalo, NY and surrounding areas the opportunity to learn about the history of their local community by making documentaries about Buffalo. The project starts in September and ends in June and has been funded by the John R. Oishei Foundation, the Margaret L. Wendt Foundation, the Baird Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
