Submission to: Storytelling the Stillmotion Way Challenge
Shot on a Panasonic Gh3 with Lumix 12-35 f/2.8
This was a last minute change of plans. I had a video planned out at a book store, but when I saw this event on a local blog, I knew it was a story that needed to be told. I quickly started doing some research, pouring over newspaper articles and facebook posts. I used what I read to come up with the keywords. I used pictures of the interior of the school as a site visit (although, I thought it was happening gym, turned out it was happening in the lobby). The lighting was bad & the lobby was loud but the story and emotion outweighed the issues. I don't have much equipment (camera & sound gear), so it didn't make it tough to chose what to bring.
The keywords I came up with beforehand: adversity, strength, friends, community & inspiration
On the spot, I added a sixth: identity
I want to thank Candice, her friends and family for letting me tell this story.
