"Papa Doc", an opera in one act, tells the story of Haitian dictator Francois "Papa Doc" Duvalier and his order of the November 1, 1964 execution of revolutionary activists, Marcel Drouin and Louis Numa. The incident is described in the first chapter of the book--Create Dangerously--written by Edwidge Danticat. The libretto is by Richard Wesley with music composed by Dorothy Rudd Moore. The performance is by Trilogy: An Opera Company (TAOC) based in Newark, NJ. The company was founded by Kevin Maynor, who also serves as the artistic director. The music director is Julius P. Williams.
