Stream restoration specialists, Seth Coffman and James Fulcher, from Trout Unlimited take elevation and survey measurements to develop a targeted restoration plan for Spout Run below Millwood at Carter Hall Spring.
The tall vertical banks shown in this video contribute a tremendous amount of sediment to Spout Run and the restoration plan will ease their height and slope in targeted locations. Planting riparian buffers will also help to stabilize the ground to minimize soil erosion.
These video journal entries are funded in part by a grant to Clarke County, Virginia and the C Spout Run Partnership from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and the Chesapeake Bay Stewardship Fund. Find out more at spoutrun.org
