Disposable Masks: LITTER(ally) Everywhere

Plastic waste and usage have become a major topic across the last decade. From the global scale to our local communities, the push for limiting plastic in our daintily lives has been a topic often seen in various media headlines. 

However, the COVID-19 pandemic beginning in 2020 took us a step back in the progress we have been making. Many things are now mainly single-use plastic items, and in an attempt for sanitation, the popularity of plastic gloves and disposable masks has skyrocketed.

On our campus at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, we have noticed mask litter increasing throughout the year. To raise awareness and begin an invite on campus, we produced a short video to get our ideas out there.
