In May every year, Canadian Parents for French BC & Yukon Branch hosts their signature event, the Provincial Concours d’art oratoire. This French public speaking competition offers hundreds of prizes to participants: university scholarships, trips to Ottawa, books, medals, merchandise, bursaries and more.
This year, more than 10,000 students in grades 6 through 12 participated in the Concours in communities throughout BC, almost 300 students participated in the Provincial Concours, and 4 students competed in the National Concours in Ottawa.
2013 marks the 30th anniversary of Concours! It is an event teachers and parents have been organizing for 30 years and for many students, it is now part of the curriculum.
