This footage is from my first assignment in my Film and Media Arts class.
The idea was to create a one-minute film without any dialogue, text, or editing- we would have to stop recording at the exact moment we wanted to stop the scene.
We needed many shots, including a wide, medium, closeup, extreme closeup, dead on, and high and low shots. The purpose of the assignment is to emphasize pre-planning: to make a storyboard, set the shot, etc.
I chose to do mine about my grandfather, his 70th birthday, and his family. I'm not sure I got the story across, but since this was for a film class, every mistake is an opportunity to learn.
This was taped on a DVC tape with a Panasonic DVC7, recorded on 9/12/09.
