Graduate students at the UNC Institute of Marine Sciences wondered if there was a way to bring their research findings into the classrooms of local schools. Their solution: SciREN (Scientific Research and Education Networking), a free event, open to teachers and the general public. The event allowed educators to connect with researchers, learn about some of the latest developments in marine science, and explore creative ways to share this new knowledge in their classrooms.
SciREN was made possible by the UNC Institute of Marine Sciences, NC Sea Grant, North Carolina Aquariums at Pine Knoll Shores, and the Center for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence Southeast.
