Each year the MABL Foundation raises money to award scholarships to students attending local law schools who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and who are committed to addressing issues that impact the Black community. Each Gala has a Keynote Speaker who presents on the theme of the Gala and provides inspiration for the students and attendees. Past Speakers have included Anna Richo (Cargill Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer & Corporate Secretary), Paulette Brown (Partner with Locke Lord LLP, and first woman of color to be President of the American Bar Association), and April Danielle Ryan (an American Correspondent and author).
Due to COVID-19 and health related concerns, MABL will virtually host the 2021.
The theme of this year’s Gala is “The time is always right to do what is right.” The theme captures the ongoing challenges and opportunities to partner with the community and legal profession to do better and be better. This Gala will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021, from 5-7 pm CST and
features a fireside chat hosted by Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and the incomparable Monique Worrell, State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial District for the State of Florida. In addition, the MABL Gala will feature performances by Grammy Award Winning Sounds of Blackness!
