MTV asked if we could create a photo-real CGI butterfly for a teaser of the new season of "Awkward," and our demo blew them away.
The project started with an elaborate proof of concept pitch to explain precisely how we would replace the actor's face in CGI when adding the butterfly. MTV loved the test so much that they even licensed the music for the final promo. Once we were awarded the job, we flew to LA to photograph the lead actress and capture data from the live action shoot. This enabled our team of animators, modelers and compositors to recreate her in 3D as the butterfly lands delicately on her nose.
