A rich repository of brilliant phrasing and thematic development, "Swing to Bop" is a veritable lexicon of the classic jazz guitar language.

As one of the first masters of the electric guitar, Charlie Christian has had a dominant influence on subsequent jazz guitarists such as Barney Kessel, Jim Hall, Herb Ellis, and many others. While a fine work on it's own, "Swing to Bop" -- recorded live at a jam session at Minton's in Harlem in 1941 -- is also valuable as a compendium of Mr. Christian's musical ideas which the improvising musician can quote directly or use as a point of departure for his or her own variations.
