This video features DiverseCity, PEI’s largest multicultural street festival, presented by PEI Association for Newcomers to Canada. This year the event takes place on Sunday, June 30th as part of Canada Day Weekend and Big Red Music Festival celebrations (June 28 - July 1). DiverseCity is a free family-friendly event, which will open at 4:00pm with a parade led by the Chinese Lion-Dancers, who will lead participants through the festival grounds: around the terraces of the Confederation Centre, along Victoria Row, and up to the main-stage in front of the Murphy’s Community Centre. Festival-goers can enjoy a variety of popular activities including mendhi (henna hand-decorating), games, martial arts and cultural demonstrations, face-painting, cultural craft vendors, participative dances from Japan and Scotland, lively main-stage performances, delicious international food, and a street-dance with the “Count and the Cuban Cocktail.” This festival will go ahead, rain or shine! A full program will be announced closer to the date on the PEIANC website peianc.com.
