IMPRINTED chronicles the first moments of life of two newborn foals and the genesis of an interspecies dialogue between the mares, the newborns and three dancers.
Merging improvisation with considerable natural horsemanship technique, we as dancers are looking to create a shared language with the mares and their foals.
We began touching and moving with the foals beginning on their first day of life. Under the supervision of our horsemanship trainers, we spent weeks improvising with them, hoping to generate their curiosity and engage them in gentle play. We were delighted that what began as short interludes of engagement has gradually evolved into a kind of shared language.
