Nu-rave track 'Balloons' sees electro-pop duo Actual Russian Brides experimenting with helium-influenced vocals, while producer Baby Swindle grinds the crank on that street organ. The music video takes the tiny sound of helium as inspiration for a miniaturizing of scale, and the mouse mentioned in the lyrics as a fashion/body modification springboard. What is also tiny? The budget. This stylish video was shot and post-produced on a mouse's shoestring, on the floor of its messy bedroom shared with the other mice.
'Balloons' is the third track from EP 'Wife Beats', Actual Russian Brides' second solo release. The EP features danceable tracks fused with darkly witty and seductive storytelling.
Available at iTunes, Amazon, Beatport, Juno Records, and Bandcamp (Clan Analogue Recordings).
With their live electro-cabraret Bild-Lilli nominated for a Victorian Green Room Award, and tracks on compilations by New Weird Australia and Clan Analogue, Actual Russian Brides are as excited as actual Russian brides tend to get.
