While freediving from the beach I stumbled upon this amazing and beautiful Octopus. I spent about a half hour playing with him and following him around taking pictures and video along the way. He would find a hiding place and camouflage himself as I slowly approached to get my shots. When I got too close he would bolt away to another hiding place. We did this routine well over a dozen times and I could tell he was starting to get aggravated as his colors became more intense and his body would form into a more threatening shape as I made my approaches. On the second to last encounter he blasted a shot of ink as can be seen in the video. On the last approach he simply had enough and latched on to my camera. He was on there for about 6 minutes. It cannot be seen in the video but while he was on my camera he turned himself black, which is the color of my underwater camera housing. I used my dive flag to coax him off the camera. He latched on to the flag for a moment then swam away. I decided to give him some peace after this and moved on to find my next subject.
