ADC's Charity Project: NAA - WF Film Teaser "Without Words"
WhiteField Productions partners with ADC with an in depth documentary that explores the creation of a new dance piece for ADC’s The Charity Project with the National Aphasia Association, and how the process effects the dancers, choreographer, and members of the aphasic community.
Alana Marie Urda’s choreography is motivated by her research on the topic of Aphasia. It captures the aphasic community’s isolation, frustrations, and relationships on the journey to reinvent oneself. Largely inspired by Samuel Beckett’s last poem “What is the Word” dedicated to Joseph Chaikin who had aphasia, Urda’s work grapples with the inability to find words to express oneself. This poignant dance piece will draw audiences closer to understanding how aphasia affects humanity. This dance premiered as part of The Charity Project, an initiative of Amalgamate Dance Company (ADC).
