This coming September, I'm planning to walk the Camino de Santiago Compostela in Spain.
I will walk in part for my own healing journey, but also to lift the veil of silence from a predicament that affects millions of people around the world: INVISIBLE Impairments, Injuries and Illness.
You'd never guess from looking at me that I'm anything but 'normal' and active. But it's what you CAN'T see that makes all the difference.
You see, I have NO idea how I'm going to manage... because I can no longer carry gear and I can't sit down (to eat or rest). I also need to lie down regularly to dampen the pain ans stiffness all over; only part of my residual limitations (& chronic pain) arising from a near-fatal accident four years ago.
But if there's something I CAN do, it's W-A-L-K! So I'll focus on, and be grateful for, my ABILITIES - and just figure out the rest as I go along.
Oh, and if I can round up a HORSE, DONKEY or CAMEL to stroll beside me AND carry my gear, what more can I ask for?!

IndieGoGo campaign in the works too...
