“FROM ME TO WE”
Discovering the Five Transformational Commitments Required to Rescue the Planet, Your Organization and Your Life featuring Bob Doppelt .
A transformational workshop hosted by Salem’s First Congregational UCC and co-sponsored by St. Mark Lutheran Church, the River Sangha and EcoFaith Recovery.
Global climate change threatens to undermine the conditions that allowed civilization to develop on Earth. The economy continues to sputter and economic inequity is growing. Many people sense that the systems we have long relied on are in danger of collapsing. Yet few can explain why, or know what to do about it.
In this interactive thought-provoking workshop, systems change specialist Bob Doppelt will explain that the problems we face today are of our own making. They are the result of the greatest failure of thought in human history. Only after people alter their assumptions and beliefs about how the planet functions and what it means to live a good and decent life will society overcome today’s challenges and adopt a path toward true sustainability.
By integrating principles of psychology, ecosystem science and basic tenets of Buddhism, Doppelt’s presentation will help participants learn how we can change our own thinking and behavior. Only then can we motivate other people and organizations to alter the way they think and behave in order to produce truly sustainable outcomes.
Topics will include:
 Why climate disruption is not, at its core, an environmental or energy problem.
 The difference between first and second order change toward sustainability.
 The five ‘natural laws of sustainability.’
 Five commitments that can align your personal thinking and behavior, and that of your organization and community, with the natural laws of sustainability.
 How your church or organization can change its culture and adopt a path toward true social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
 Why the ‘five commitments’ are a key to your personal happiness and spiritual wellbeing. About the Speaker
