Beat Radio is our final project for Motors & Music Class at IDP 2013, with David Gauthier and Jakob Bak. The keywords for this project are haptics, dynamics, force-feedback, motor control.
The goal was to hack an everyday analog object, giving it new interactions using the Motors & Music platform.
Therefore we created a radio where it is possible to feel the stations along the slider, instead of hearing all the statics, the sound only comes on when you feel the bump that indicates a tuned radio.
Also the Beat Radio shows the beats per minute of the music playing, with a metronome like tool that produces a steady pulse.
