How to make use of the the Ogg Vorbis VS1000 breakout board from Sparkfun.
Ogg is an audio file format that purports to be superior to MP3 and others. It's a fairly widely supported audio format and is directly supported in hardware from the VLSI VS1000 device.
Sparkfun released a breakout board for this chip the week of Sept 14th, 09.
This video includes making an Ogg file from an MP3 using open source audio editing tool, Audacity, and loading the Sparkfun Ogg Vorbis board's flash memory with audio files (which includes a few things to watch out for.)
Finally, the video review includes comments on the pros and cons of the board.
