William Shelton was a Tulalip Indian, who at the turn of the 20th century could see his culture disappearing and decided to do something about it. He wrote down the stories and legends shared by the elders of local tribes, translated them into English, he carved story poles of these legends, and he promoted Puget Sound Native American Culture wherever he went. This mini-documentary which won “Best Documentary Short” at the Hibulb Cultural Center Film Festival is just one aspect of his life. Quil Ceda Media hopes to get the funding to complete a full one hour documentary because we think he deserves his place in history.
