Families and friends gathered for the first annual Kent State suicide prevention walk, Out of the Darkness, on April 13, 2013. Some walked in honor and remembrance of loved ones. Others walked in support and to raise awareness.
We asked them to share their thoughts on a large piece of paper taped to the wall. One by one, people picked up markers and left memorials and messages of advice and strength on the paper, which resulted in the time-lapse video at left.
This was created for Campus Lifeline (campuslifeline.com/), a project that brought together journalists, designers and programmers with one common goal: to shatter the stigma surrounding mental illness and get people talking about suicide as a public health issue.
