This piece is the first sketch in a series that investigates the borders of structure and confinement. The interactive video feed behind the body is a distortion created by incorrectly ingesting a webcam into a software codec. The signal is then routed through the internet to a hardware codec and responds to movement and light captured by the original device. The camera is strapped to the dancers body and his movement becomes a generative part of the feedback loop. Is this process of connecting to the network an extension of the dancers body or is it a restriction that confines him to the loop and frame?
