Growing up in Los Angeles as a fashion misfit I was always on the hunt for "the next" meaning those brands of clothing that were hard to find and outside the current trend. My friends and I got a high from rocking gear that no one knew was cool yet, and we always had to be the first. Around 1996 I stumbled into Union Los Angeles then owned by streetwear legend Eddie Cruz, it instantly became my go to shop for that next I was hunting for. At that time not only did they sell clothes but they had mixtapes, magazines, and toys. The store represented a whole lifestyle and I was in heaven.
Marching into a new era now owned by one time store manager / buyer Chris Gibbs Union LA has continued to stay ahead and be the home of brands rarely found in the US. Originally known for being the first to bring some of streetwear's heavy weights to the table such as Supreme, 10 Deep, & Bape Union LA now showcases what some may call a more premium streetwear or contemporary fashion. Stocking brands such as Neighborhood, Visvim, Carven, and En Noir Union LA remains two steps ahead of the rest, offering the public what's next whether they know it or not.
In this segment of Theforecast.tv we profile Union LA as well as giving you a brief rundown of their spring / summer 13 merchandise. Please enjoy.
