Structural engineers often study a variety of design options for a given problem. When utilizing FEA to solve a design problem, management and extraction of relevant information from the FEA model can be a project in itself. Over the course of a project, structural models proliferate as geometrical change or structural member variation lead to updates of the base analysis model.
A systematic process is critical to create meaning out of the vast quantity of data produced by increasingly powerful FEA software. This animation represents a process to extract, store and query data in a database from an FEA (Strand7) package. Once the data is extracted to the database, standard data cuts are executed for typically relevant information.
A second post processing routine is used to generate html which allows for interactive visualization of the data.
