This piece tries to reveal sounds that cannot be heard, such as those made by a suspended bridge. Scaled down and amplified, the internal vibrations and tensions become audible.
My unique performance instrument is inspired by Sir Robert Matthew's tensegrity structure. Aidan Matthew, Sir Robert's son has granted me permission to use his father's design to build this instrument.
My project also brings new and old media together, juxtaposing laptop and overhead projector. The laptop is used to create spatialisation of the raw sounds. By using a self-built controller, the sounds are affected by a digital process but the use of a laptop does not come between performer and audience.
