You can visit the Santa Barbara wineries in two different ways. Because the wineries are spread out in this area, many of the wineries have elected to have a tasting room in the towns of Los Olivos, Solvang or Lompoc. We think the best way to explore and learn about the Santa.Barbara wine country is to take one or more of the three wine trails we have devised for this region. winecountrygetaways.com/santa-barbara-wineries.html
The Foxen Canyon trail leads north from the Andrew Murray winery to the Kenneth Volk winery in the Santa Maria Valley. Among our favorites on this trail are Andrew Murray, Zaca Mesa, Rancho Sisquoc and Riverbench.
The Santa Rita Hills wine trail is a very cool-climate area near the Pacific Ocean where Pinot Noir is king. You will find an array of wineries focused on Pinot Noir here, such as Alma Rosa and Melville. There is also the Mosby winery featuring Italian varietals.
On the Santa Ynez trail, don’t miss Sunstone or Rusack wineries. They make delicious wines and have beautiful picnic areas.
If you watched and enjoyed the movie "Sideways," you"ll like the wine trail that leads to the wineries that had scenes in the movie. It is great fun to follow Miles and Jack on this wine trail, and then watch the movie again and look for the places you've visited. winecountrygetaways.com/sideways-wineries.html
