Testing video transmission using a long range 900MHz setup on a big wooden tricopter. I notice I was still flying LOS though.
The quality is useless for recording but totally usable for FPV. The camera & Tx are temporarily powered from the main battery. Still waiting for my stabilised voltage regulator (buck-boost a.k.a SEPIC) which should reduce the noise by a lot, also need to put the Rx antenna on a tripod of some kind. This HobbyKing Tx seems to cut off sharply at around 12V so you can't reliably power it from a bare 3S LiPo.
The 1.5W Tx was running without its radiator/case which is heavier than the Tx itself. It can normally get pretty hot but was running surprisingly cool here mounted in the prop downwash.
