The necropolis of the kings of France
From the high Middle Ages, the dionysien monastery knew how to link its destiny to that of the kingship becoming apparent little by little as the privileged tomb of royal dynasties thanks to the worship of holy Denis. Forty-two kings, thirty-two queens, sixty-three princes and princesses, big ten of the kingdom rested there.

Gisants and tombs
With more than seventy gisants and monumental tombs, with splendid funeral sculptures among which those of Dagobert, François Ier, Catherine de Médicis or else Louis XVII, the royal necropolis of basilica establishes itself as the most important whole funeral sculpture today from XIIth century till XVIth century.
