His music is drawn from a wide and varied repertoire including the Farukhabad, Delhi, Ajrada, Lucknow and Punjab schools.
Pandit Nayan Ghosh was trained by his father, the legendary Padmabhushan Nikhil Ghosh. In addition to his father, Ghosh has accompanied and received inspiration from many master musicians including Pandit Nikhil Banerjee, Ustad Vilayat Khan and Pandit Buddhadev Das Gupta. Nayan Ghosh has performed internationally and has recorded extensively. Presently, as Director of India's leading music academy, the Sangit Mahabharati in Juhu, Mumbai, Ghosh is training new generations of Indian musicians. He was instrumental in the completion of his father's monumental work, The Encyclopaedia of Music in India, published in 2011 by the Oxford University Press.
