The making of razor blade boilers was once practiced among people in formerly-communist Eastern European countries and Russia as a means of boiling water. Its creation is a form of survival under oppressive power structures in times of material scarcity and also a form of object making as private resistance where private space is known to be illusory or largely absent. In enacting the making and usage of this boiler, I explore either the effectiveness or failure of such a minute form of resistance under contemporary economic and political conditions.
