The prefalll 135 is an interactive audio-visual installation. It uses the energy of falling water to make watermils rotate and produce sound and graphics.

Two deposits of water placed on the upper part of a vertical surface make water fall upon a circuit of canals and watermills. The canals can be rotated by the user around a fixed point, letting her/him direct the water towards the watermills she/he wishes. The rotation of each watermill produces a new sound or proceeds on an already existing sound, while affecting the graphics projected.
The angle of the rotation of the watermill is detected by a camera placed behind the Surface. This information is used as input to control the sound and control the visuals.

The sound is inspired in the sound produced by natural elements like wind and water. We use three different methods of sound synthesis: additive, subtractive, and wavetable synthesis.
Every watermill has a specific function in this system, and the movement generated by the water falling will change parameters, creating this way some dynamic evolutions in the sound that comes from the installation.

The visual part of the project consists on projected real time generated graphics. They are created according to the input of the camera that detects the rotation of the wheels.
