This Video was produced for Untranslatable Words- Limmat Stromereien Site specific performnace festival Zürich 2011.
The performance at the Stromereien is the result of a 10 days track in June 2011 along the Limmat river, and interaction in public spaces in Zurich in which we will be collecting untranslatable words from people who we will meet.
Our starting point wasat the origins of the Limmat river at the Lintthal region at the foot of Tödi massive mountain along the river course, the Walen and Zurich lake until we reach Zurich. Till its meeting point with the Aare river in the “Wasserschloss of Switzerland” continue in the triangle of Brugg, Turgi and Klingnau.
In both, the track and interactive action in Zurich, we were asking people for untranslatable words in their language and pursue conversation with them about the meaning of the word and its cultural context. In our action in Zurich we served as a catalyst for cultural exchange between people. We were regaining and re-activating the social role of public spaces around the area of the Tanzhaus Zurich.
