This reel features segments from three short films by Christian Frahme of the Film Conservatory at SUNY Purchase. The full versions are available on vimeo or can be seen on the home page at christianfrahme.webs.com.
Lovesick (2011)- Christian's Junior thesis film, a dark romantic comedy about Eddie, a shy, lonely geek who becomes the object of obsession for Amy, who's unnerving clinginess teaches Eddie to be careful of his wishes.
The Midnight Rider (2012)- Christian's Senior thesis film, a noir-ish throwback to psychological thrillers of the 50's and 60's. Warren spends a night driving a deserted highway when he finds the women of his murky past standing by the side of the road. Warren confronts each of them, giving them a ride as he scans the road for that next special girl.
The Killing Joke (2010)- An earlier work, inspired by the graphic novel by Alan Moore and Brian Bolland. This piece shows the breakdown of Jay, a failed comedian who turns to crime to support his pregnant wife. The heist is foiled, Jay takes a dive into a vat of industrial bleach, and survives only to learn that his wife was electrocuted in a freak accident. Jay's return home features no dialogue and builds erratic tension through the gradual reveal of what Jay has become.
