During the STRP BIENNALE 2013 we were asked to make a short documentary of the project "The New Machine Era"
Here is a short description of the project from the STRP BIENNALE:
By proclaiming the New Machine Era, STRP is going back to the basics of technology. The focus is on designing low-tech applications for high-tech problems. In other words: finding simple solutions to very complex issues. The aim is to make technology accessible and visible again, instead of ‘hiding’ it inside a computer’s motherboard. With our audience, we want to marvel again at the creative opportunities technology can offer.
In order to do so in innovative and co-creative ways, we will have a number of teams working in a proeftuin, on a beautiful but useless mega-machine. We will then display the machine on a stage for ten days, so that it can star in what is at once an installation and a live performance. In addition we intend to capture the machine’s mechanism, down to the smallest detail, on film. It will turn the New Machine Era into both a testing ground and a mix of performing art and technology.
