Raymond Thiry takes the lead in this comic crime thriller, in which both Katja and Birgit Schuurman will be seen playing alongside each other for the very first time. The production was realized through a cooperation between Hazazah Pictures and Orange Film, with the addition of BNN as the coproducing broadcaster. Melle Runderkamp wrote the screenplay.
Besides Raymon Thiry (Oorlogswinter), Katja Schuurman (S1ingle, Interview) and Birgit Schuurman (De Eetclub) Blackout features a long list of renown actors: Kim van Kooten (Phileine zegt Sorry), Alex van Warmerdam (Ober), Ursul de Geer, Robert de Hoog (Skin), Renée Fokker (Overspel), Bas Keijzer (Alles is Liefde), Marwan Kenzari (Rabat, Loft), Horace Cohen (Ellis in Glamourland), kickbokser Sem Schilt and rappers Willie Wartaal and Kempi.
This exciting humorous thriller shows ex-con Jos Vreeswijk on the night before his wedding slowly regaining consciousness next to a unrecognizable dead body while holding a gun in one hand. To add to his troubles, the underworld accuses him of stealing twenty kilos of cocaine. Jos has 24 hours to make sense out of this chain of miraculous events and find out where the cocaine is hidden. Problem is that he has had a complete blackout. Will Jos comply with the ultimatum and set things straight before his own wedding?
Arne Toonen is known for his earlier work as a director working on Dick Trom. Melle Runderkamp wrote the screenplay for het Schnitzel Paradijs earlier in his career.
