Sermon Series: Annual Church Celebration 2013
Sermon Title: The Church: God’s Salvation Showcase
Sermon Text: Ephesians 3:10-12
Big Idea: The church showcases salvation for all to see
Today is our annual celebration as a church. It leads me to ask the question: How important is church, really?
How important is church to God’s work in the world?
How significant is the work you do here at the church?
How meaningful are the dollars you donate to resource the Church?
These are important questions and I think most us might be surprised by how the Bible answers these questions.
In the book of Ephesians Paul is explaining pieces of the mystery and brilliance of God’s grace and the multiple dimensions of his plan of salvation. Towards the end of chapter 2 and into chapter 3 he is specifically celebrating how remarkable it is that in Christ people of every race are brought together in unity, nothing divides Jew and non-Jew, male and female, old or young…all can be reconciled to God through faith in Jesus the Christ. Paul seems overwhelmed with all this good news and with the fact that as one of the early Apostles, he has the privilege of being one of the first to make it known to folks. But, I want you to notice what he says about how that good news will be made known going forward from him…
