Rangers from the 3rd Battalion, 75th ranger regiment were recognized for their combat actions in a valorous award ceremony at Marshall Auditorium in McGinnis-Wickam Hall. Among the awards was the Silver Star, posthumously awarded to Sergeant Ronald Kubik. The award was presented to his mother, Eileen Kubik. Kubik was seriously wounded in an engagement on April 23rd 2010, with an enemy force in Logar Province, Afghanistan, he later succumbed to his wounds. The 21 year old ranger was on his third deployment is support of the War on Terror. The 75th Ranger Regiment’s is the Army’s premiere direct action raid force. It is capable of planning, executing and commanding and controlling large and complex joint special operations throughout the range of combat missions.
