In many developing countries, the cost to provide clean water for one person is just $5. This is because building wells and filtration systems is relatively inexpensive and has immediate impact saving lives. However, in the Palestinian territories, the people are not allowed to build wells. They are unable to access the land. They must rely on the water being delivered to them. The delivery of water is inconsistent. When roof top tanks are left empty, they become contaminated. 1for3.org is working to seek innovative ways to rebuild infrastructure so that the little amount of water that is delivered to them is kept uncontaminated and not lost due to leaky pipes. We cannot change the amount of water delivered to the Palestinians, but our goal is to develop an equitable and sustainable system to improve both water quality and quantity beyond the life of this funding. We can also teach them how to test the water and repair/rebuild existing infrastructure.
